Build on the Rock Friends, we’re living in a time where people despise God, have no time for Him, feel they have no need of Him. Being “wicked” is when we alter and break away from the design and plan that God has for our lives. When we choose to place our hope and confidence in things that “supposedly appear solid and structured” None of this will last and stand if we’ve not built on the sure foundation. This Scripture reveals a deeper truth and compels us to look moreinwardly than what we observe outwardly. That more than the physical outer, l ays the deeper inner foundational truths that willeither cause us to perish or flourish. The choice and decision rests solely on us. At the start of a New Year what plans have we made and on what foundation are we building? A rock is a firm foundation or support. Instinctively we feel safer to step on a rock for balance, stability and safety as opposed to a rickety surface that appears unsafe and less secure. This decision is based on what we physically see. However the same holds true in the spiritual realm and where and how we tread and on what we build are dependent on our “spiritual sight” Key to the design and plan of a building is its foundation. The foundation will determine the integrity and structure of the building. How strong and sturdy it will be, how it’s able to withstand extreme weather and age is what’s significant. Will it stand come what may? So the challenge for us is to build a life on the promises of God and not to be dependent on and pin our confidence on “wickedness”. The most noteworthy difference between the “house” and the “tent”is not so much the edifice, but the foundation! Jesus is this rock, the sure foundation! He promises that the tent of the upright will flourish! It’s not what you live in, but what you live on. “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron 7:14) Invite Jesus into your life this year! Lay a solid foundation for you and your family. It will be the wisest decision and investment you will ever make. You see the upright and the righteous are NEVER forsaken, we have a sure foundation and we flourish come what may! |
